WeWorld-GVC, recently constituted from the merger of two NGOs, is an Italian secular and independent organization working since 1971 in international cooperation and humanitarian aid. Present in 29 countries with 128 projects, WeWorld-GVC operates in the following areas of assistance: human rights (gender equality, prevention and combating violence against children and women, migration), humanitarian aid (prevention, emergency relief and rehabilitation), food security, access to water, health and hygiene, education, global citizenship education, quality teaching and international volunteering. WeWorld-GVC works mostly with girls, boys, women and youth, actors of change in every community for a fairer and more inclusive world. Position

Position: Desk Finance Officer

Location: preferably based in Bologna, with possibility of remote working

Type of contract: 6/12 months (with possibility of extension)

Starting date: June 2022

Gross Salary: to be defined according to the candidate’s profile

Job Description

The Desk Finance Officer works under the direction of the Programmes Finance Coordinator, supporting the Regional Finance Mangers (RFMs) and collaborating with the AFC staff at HQ level.


MAIN FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

FINANCIAL REPORTING

  • Support the Regional Finance Managers (RFM) in the financial reporting of projects
  • Support the RFMs to provide to the Countries the supporting documents for the expenses incurred in Italy

AUDIT PROCESS

  • Provide support to the Regional Finance Managers to perform the expenditures verification and external audits of the projects
  • Provide support in the preparation of the supporting documents

ACCOUNTING

  • Support the RFMs to check the Country accounting and quarterly reconciliations
  • Support the RFMs to upload project budget or budget amendments to the accounting software, if requested
  • Support the RFM in the registration of the expenses incurred in Italy

MONITORING MISSIONS

  • Possibility of monitoring missions on the field

OTHER

  • Organize the archiving of the project documentation
  • Collaborate with the other AFC Staff members, at HQ Level, facilitating the communication flow between the Countries and the HQ Staff

Requirements

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and Knowledge:

  • Degree in Economics, Political Science or related fields, or equivalent

Languages:

  • Fluency in Italian and English

Professional Experience:

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a finance/accounting role in the NGO sector

Skills and Abilities:

  • Accountancy skills
  • Excellent computer skills including full working knowledge MS Office and Internet
  • Problem-solver approach with demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and creating efficiencies
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks while fostering quality, team spirit and positive working relationships with colleagues
  • Strong commitment to the Mission of WeWorld-GVC, genuine interest for international cooperation development topics
  • Demonstrates integrity by modelling the NGO values and ethical standards; displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability

DESIDERABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experiences at HQ level would be considered an asset
  • Previous experience on the field, in Humanitarian or Development projects, would be considered an asset
  • Availability to be based in Bologna Office, would be considered an asset
  • Fluency in French and/or Spanish would be considered an asset
